when I ask for answers,

I am required to find solutions.

I didn’t expect so much chaos in such a confined space; 3 different people completing tasks meant for 33 different reasons. I only found this because I was browsing ads on Craigslist. Now, the perks keep my sanity at bay for 2 business days before the weekend happens. The cycle continues like the washing machine that cleans our linens. Ask Cliff the next time you see him. Mission improbable is what it feels like from shift to shift. There is a point when it no longer becomes fun. It becomes a routine of exasperation wandering from task to task. I read about the negative effects of multitasking. I’m sure I test positive for the symptoms I deny. Sometimes I tell stories. Sometimes I tell scripts. Dollar signs remain the same before and after lunch. This just means that I like to chew my food first if I get a chance. Gracias, mi hermano. Downstairs sees. Mira. Mica: one of the reasons white women who wear fancy fanny packs flirt with me. I don’t mind the attention. It helps with commission. It gets me out of my chair after printing menus for more white people who rave about reasons to recommend favorite recipes. Don’t get me wrong, the dinner menu is great. Ask for 13 or 14 for a view when you call the landline. Find Water by Don if you need points to cross. I won’t be here much longer, but that doesn’t mean I won’t stop by another time.

Coyote loves talking to Moon on Sundays. Hear Coyote greet everyone in the village when the time is just right. It’s a day when clans enter their modern-day dwellings the earliest. Coyote keeps their distance from the village after Grandfather passed. Coyote peeks their head down from edges of desert tabletops while Sun emits final rays of warmth before cold snap of dusk. Tonight, Coyote rests by Juniper splitting the rock surface. Coyote calls Juniper by a different name, Cedar. Cedar is what Grandfather called Juniper. Coyote saw Grandfather craft natural quarters with Cedar. Coyote likes to follow the back trails to see Grandfather’s huts. They are built with thick, strong Cedar. Cedar was gathered by Grandfather on days when he had only water. Many seasons ago, Grandfather would go on journeys and rest overnight in these shelters spawned from skill. Coyote likes to reminisce about stories from Grandfather before Ford trucks. When meh’da’gah’nas started visiting the motherlands in Ford trucks, we knew things would not be alike. When meh’da’gah’nas arrived everywhere in Ford trucks, we knew things would be different. When meh’da’gah’nas gave Grandfather a Ford truck in exchange for land, we had to understand. Coyote remembers this day. It was the day Grandfather made prayer sticks. Grandfather gathered his finest medicine while smoking Tobacco. Feathers, pollen, & prayer wrapped with strength, guidance, and perseverance. Grandfather gave prayer sticks to Coyote to be buried by his favorite hut. Coyote fulfilled the request from Grandfather. It took 4 days. That was the last time Coyote saw Grandfather. Tonight, Coyote talks to Moon about Grandfather’s huts before Ford Trucks.
